Hi I'm Kira Sakurada,a first grader of Sendai Shirayuri Gakuen High School.
I'm going to write what I thought about English interaction salon held in the eighth Exploring-Germination-and-Growth program for young Scientists in English!
I wrote the blog for the first time the other day but after a month,I'm writing the blog in English now! What an incredible growth a JK can show!
In the English interaction salon,we made a group with Isabel from Gatemara,Jin from China and five Japanese high school students.Isabel and Jin talked with us with easy words. It was easy to listen to and I could understand the content enough. After having lunch I talked about Taiwan having many delicious foods with Jin.I asked him "I'm going to go to Taiwan. I'm looking forward to going to stall stand and night market. Is it true that chodouhu smells but tastes good?"Then he recommended me "It smells bad but it is delicious. If you have never eaten it,you should try one."I think it is fun to talk about the country's special food like Japan's natto,Taiwan's choudouhu and Sweden's surstomming.
The interaction with foreign students was enjoyable and with Janpanese students was also great. We met for the first time on that day but we helped each other and managed to have conversation in English. We kept asking questions like"How can I tell〇〇?" "What does 〇〇 mean?" To gather everyone's English skill to tell what we think ,and it was a lot of fun.I've made goals before taking part in EGGSprogram.
One of those was to develop practical English skills and global viewpoints.I can't say it was enough but I think I could get closer to achieve the goal.
At the end of March,I will stay in Taiwan for 8 days on a school study trip.I'll make a presentation on"Is it possible to reduce food loss by changing customer's awareness".Now I'm translating my script into English.I'd like to use this experience and have communication with many people actively in Taiwan.
